Cock T’est Belle II

A family home is a process, not an end result, it lives and changes with a family living in it. So it happened with this house – additions to the family made him grow down the hill. The architect had the difficult duty of finding a constructive solution for a building on a crumbling slope.

A piece of land absolutely unsuitable for construction was chosen for its absolute suitability for seaside living: fresh breeze from the sea, direct view of the horizon and a hope that nobody dares to start building anything close by. Vertically situated volume of the building consists of overlapping rectangles that create a terrace system where each one is facing the sea. The bottom level is hosting visitor’s bedrooms, the second floor is a common area with a fireplace and kitchen, the third level is a master bedroom.

And the bonus level is a sort of open captain’s post that occupies the roof of the master bedroom. This signature space was created to highlight the mood of the floating building along with round ship windows and flag poles.
