The second edition of CONTAINER at Genoa Design Week

Conceived by architect Massimiliano Dalle Sasse, founder of DLA Design Lab, and curated by Simona Finessi, director of the international magazine Platform architecture and design, the CONTAINER02 event reaches its second edition with an expanded format and a new strategic location.

The ‘CONTAINER’ evokes travel and global connections, finding in Genoa the ideal context to become an unprecedented exhibition space. Born in 2024, the event has demonstrated its ability to create a distinctive platform for interior designers on the one hand, design enthusiasts on the other, enhancing unconventional venues and expanding the exhibition area beyond the district where Genoa Design Week was born six years ago.

The second edition represents a significant turning point: the heart of the exhibition moves from the central Piazza Matteotti to the Darsena, in the areas adjacent to the ‘Galata’ Sea Museum. This new location marks a return to the city’s origins, enhancing the former docks with a scenographic solution immersed in the maritime atmosphere.

The exhibition is based on the decontextualisation of the container, placed inside the inner courtyard of the Galata Museum, accessible through an evocative path facing the sea. During Genoa Design Week, this open-air installation will become not only a collective exhibition, but also a place for reflection, meeting and experimentation.

The initiative invites designers to reinterpret the concept of ‘mobile container’ as an expression of their own design vision, transforming each module into a manifesto of creativity and innovation. Each participating studio was assigned a 20-foot container to translate their idea into a unique and experimental experiential space.

For the ‘CONTAINER 02’ edition, under the curatorship of Simona Finessi, more than 20 designers have been selected who, individually or in groups, will give life to 12 original interpretations, transforming the exhibition area into a fascinating design tale.
